• I understand that activities with horses, on the ground or ridden, carry an inherent risk and that all horses may act unpredictably on occasions. Horses can bite, kick, tread on toes and use their bodies in other ways to intimidate and injure humans. When riding I may fall off and be injured. I accept these risks.
• I understand that instructions are given for my safety and agree to follow instructions given to me by the instructor.
• I understand that the instructor may not always allow me to ride – usually for, but not limited to, reasons of safety.
• I understand that the instructors will make decisions based on information which I give them and I agree to be honest and volunteer information about: My abilities and experience with horses; any previous accidents with horses, any relevant medical conditions.
• I understand that wearing a riding helmet and body protector may reduce the severity of an injury should an accident happen, and agree that I will always wear a riding helmet with the current safety standard during riding, groundwork, or whilst in an area with horses.
• I understand that suitable footwear is Jodhpur or long riding boots with a 1” heel and smooth soles. Wellington boots can be worn for non-ridden and ridden work without stirrups.
• I will ensure that no action or omission on my part, or within my sphere of responsibility, is detrimental to the interests, condition or safety of others and I will always act in such a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and wellbeing of others.
• I will report to the appropriate person or authority where it appears that the health and safety of others is at risk.
• I understand that children are at particular risk around horses and agree that I will keep any children that I am responsible for under close supervision and away from the horses except during their lesson.
• I agree to keep any children that I am responsible for under close supervision and away from dangers including, but not limited to, staff-only areas and the car park.
• I am aware I may be personally liable for injury or damage to horses, people, cars or property that is caused by myself.
• I agree to give the Instructor the right to use photographs or video images of the session for display or advertising unless otherwise agreed. I waive my right to inspect or approve the finished product and the right to any financial recompense for such use. If you do not wish photos to be used on social media or for advertising, please let us know by email.
• I agree to follow the yard rules. The latest version is displayed at the premises.

Various words and phrases used in this agreement shall have the following meanings - the 'Instructor' also includes any partners, employees, agents or sub-contractors who may run or assist in running the lesson. The 'lesson' refers to any instructions, training or demonstrations relating to the care, handling and riding of horses.
